To Revolt or to Protest. That is the Question.

1/23/17

I watched in awe Saturday as millions of people around the world–millions!!–marched or rallied in support of equal, human rights and against the new US leadership. We haven’t seen that kind of impassioned turnout since the 70s when some of us marched for passage of the Equal Rights Amendment, a woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions and domestic violence victims’ rights to not be further abused. (De ja vu?) But I digress.

So, millions of people hit the streets. All over Earth! And all were and are on the same life page. All I could think or say as I watched the seas of women and men around the country protest was “holy crap”! I’m still speechless and I’ve started this blog because it’s time for us to find our collective voices. And, it’s time to make a real change. Not the every four years, overused change cliche. The time has come (as evidenced by the bazillion million people marching) to revisit our US vision, mission, achievements and failures. The US citizens are not and have not been on the same page. Yeah I know, who made me Einstein? But seriously, this isn’t the 1800s, and considering that the new right-wing leadership is taking us back to that age when women were “barefoot and pregnant” and a small group of citizens had the vast majority of wealth, we must continue this march of impassioned, non-violent protest. And we must ALL take action now.

How do we cultivate our passion and turn it into true change? Business textbooks tell us that we need a strategic plan, goals and good leadership to achieve the mission. Great, let’s do it. But first we must remove our trite, antiquated leadership–both republican and democratic. (Remember this during the mid-term elections). Our partisan politics and values do not reflect the will of many of the people; only the will of the stagnant politicians and the insanely wealthy one percent. Mr. Einstein said “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” And that’s exactly what we have been doing in our country for the last 40+ years.

So if you are interested in real change, major change; the kind of change that turns everything inside out, removes those things we do not want in our society and adds those things we respect and value, follow the Muppetman blog as I discuss concepts and ways that could significantly change yours and your loved ones’ lives. If you’re serious about creating change, versus marching for one day to protest the state of the nation, stay tuned and stay active. To paraphrase Ghandi, be the change you want to see. index
