The latter one is the question that 45 obviously asked himself three of the four weekends that he’s been on the Washington payroll. He has gone to his Mar-a-lago estate in Florida three times to entertain people and play golf. So what, right? Well if you’re okay with footing his one-month $10,000,000 bill to protect him, his family and friends, then keep forking over your hard-earned cash and support him so that he can play golf in Florida.
Ironically, 45 ripped Obama in early 2016 stating, “All that man does is play golf.” During the 8 years of Obama’s presidency the total cost for his assorted family and business-related trips was 97 million. If 45 continues to play on weekends in Florida at his current pace the total cost to us over four years will be a minimum of 480 million dollars. He’s doing this at your expense! So who needs the money more, you or 45 and his family?
Adding insult to injury, if you live in New York City you’re also paying for 45’s protection at his NY Tower. How could this be, why doesn’t the federal government pay for this, and why are New Yorkers getting stuck with both bills? Simple math in the bookkeeping ledgers tells us that it has cost NYC $35,000,000 to date to protect him at the 45 Tower. In contrast, the federal government has only reimbursed New York City $7,000,000. When reporters asked White House staff why they have only paid 20% of 45’s protection bill they declined to comment. What, no 3am tweet slamming the media for fake billing news?
Why can’t this man work from the White House instead of the 45 Tower, why can’t he go to Camp David like all the other presidents before him and why do we have to pay for his entire mishpocha to travel to all of these places? When he goes to Florida we’re paying astronomically more than we would for him to go to Camp David because the Coast Guard also has to be paid to protect the waterways surrounding his palatial estate. You know the estate, the one with 126 rooms that has 24 kt gold bathroom fixtures and $7,000,000 worth of gold leaf in the ballroom.
So who’s ripping off the taxpayers 45? It’s certainly not immigrants because they often work for less than minimum wage. You can’t blame it on Obama or the media this time. Apparently the way to make America great again is to take Americans’ money for self-indulgent golf trips to Florida. How does he sleep at night? Oh right, he doesn’t, unless he tweets in his sleep at 3 am. Wanna get away?
Special Note: Dear Readers-First, thanks so much for reading the Muppetman blog. I am truly honored that you follow me and, as Sally Field once said, “You like me, you really like me!” Second, FYI-I will return to FT work this Monday but I will continue this blog. I will likely post entries a bit less often due to time constraints, but know that I will continue to be here writing and fighting for individual freedoms, peace, fairness and a better way of living for those of us who believe in true equality and inclusion for all people. Enjoy your weekend!

I found my voice in the late 70s when I attended college. The Equal Rights Amendment and abortion rights were the hot topics of that era and I reactively embraced both causes. Using my new voice I facilitated conscious-raising groups, coordinated marches for the ERA and Take Back the Night, while simultaneously realizing that there were many double standards for women and men in the world. By reading the words of ceiling-breakers Simone de Beauvoir and Betty Friedan I learned that women always have to try harder, do better and do more than our male counterparts to be considered half as good. That epiphany never sat well with me so I used my natural writing gift to raise awareness and promote equality over discrimination. I continue to believe that we are all entitled to live our best life, to be treated equally and to have the same educational and employment opportunities that enable us to achieve our aspirations. No one gets out of this mortal existence alive and we should therefore have inherent equal rights to fulfill our individual missions before we depart this earth. View all posts by muppetmanblog
